An exceptionally democratic and inclusive process by Housing Our Families led to the successful conversion of one of Portland's most troubled properties into the Maya Angelou Community Initiative, 42 units of low income housing for mostly single, female-headed households. By reaching out to the community, the project became the impetus for revitilization and reinvestment in the surrounding neighborhood.
